Join Okwui Enwezor and John Akomfrah for an evening in which they consider artworks and documents both as archives and as the body of an exhibition–the "archival imagination." What are the differences between exhibiting (showing and putting on display) and curating (selecting and categorizing)? In conceptualizing, constituting, and constructing a history of objects and ideas, what role do display and curation play in organizing knowledge?
Free admission, but passes are required. Passes will be given out at the door, beginning at 5pm, at the Broadway entrance. One pass per person; saving seats is not permitted. Please note that large bags and suitcases are not allowed inside the lecture hall.
Free parking is available at the Broadway Garage, 7 Felton Street.
The lecture will take place in Menchel Hall, Lower Level. Please enter the museums via the entrance on Broadway.
