Hearst Museum of Anthropology, University of California, Berkeley</strong></p><p>Recently discovered correspondence from the early twentieth century has shed light on a disagreement between W. E. B. Du Bois and W. M. F. Petrie, the developer of Egyptian archaeology as a scientific discipline. Their letters focused on the education of people of African descent in America and of Egyptians in Egypt and highlighted the widely divergent views and educational backgrounds of the two men.
