Breaking Iconoclasm in the news

April 7, 2016

Last December, the SCA held a roundtable on Breaking Iconoclasm: Destroying and Rebuilding Past and Present Heritage, exploring interdisciplinary approaches to iconoclasm.  Two of the participants, Bastien Varoutsikos and Jason Felch, have since written a couple of pieces on the themes of the roundtable and their specific engagement with the recent events in Syria and Iraq.  Their recent article on 'Iconoclasm in the era of Clickbait' was just published in The Art Newspaper (April 7) and Jason also provides a shorter version on his blog on looting antiquities, Chasing Aphrodite.  Video of the entire symposium is also available here.
